Somos una asociación internacional sin animo de lucro cuyo propósito es promover la salud dental.

Nuestro logotipo, “El Diente Feliz”, es un marca de calidad y símbolo identificación de productos que no dañan los dientes.

“El Diente Feliz” se basa en criterios específicos científicamente demostrables. Los productos y servicios acreditados con el símbolo “El Diente Feliz” incluyen:

  • Alimentos y bebidas
  • Medicamentos y productos farmacéuticos
  • Chupetes
  • Productos de salud bucodental
  • Sales fluoradas
  • Practicas dentales
  • Campañas de educación

Toothfriendly International fue fundada en 1989 con base en Basilea, Suiza. La asociación esta presidida por una junta ejecutiva formada por profesionales de la salud bucodental. Los miembros de esta asociación incluye a profesionales de la salud bucodental preventiva, así como asociaciones y empresas en el ámbito de la alimentación y el cuidado buco dental.

 

Nuestro objetivo es motivar a los proveedores a apoyar nuestra misión de prevención de la caries , por ejemplo, a la industria alimenticia, a los profesionales del sector del cuidado bucodental y a los educadores entre otros , recomendando nuestros productos a través del material educativo proporcionado y de los servicios ofrecidos como campañas educativas

Identificando los productos y nuestros servicios con el logo “El Diente Feliz”, ayudamos a la gente a hacer la elección correcta, ayudándoles a mantener una buena salud bucal. Otorgamos nuestro logo “El Diente Feliz” como sello de garantía exclusivamente a productos y servicios que reúnen los más altos parámetros y pasan rigurosos controles .

DONDE ESTA NUESTRA ASOCIACION

La marca “El Diente Feliz” esta registrada a nivel mundial. Actualmente este logo acompaña a un gran número de productos y servicios repartidos por todo el mundo, en concreto en más que 40 países.

Como entidad coordinadora, nosotros apoyamos los trabajos promocionales de nuestras asociaciones nacionales en Suiza, Alemania, Turquía, Tailandia, Japón y Corea.

A través de nuestro brazo caritativo de la asociación , La Fundación Toothfriendlly , se encarga de apoyar y poner en marcha programas de prevención de caries en regiones con un elevado riesgo de caries y pocos recursos económicos.

1982 SWITZERLAND

The Toothfriendly logo was created in 1982 on an initiative of the Swiss University Dental Faculties to distinguish confectionery products that are safe to teeth, i.e. are non-cariogenic and non- erosive. In the same year, the first pH-telemetry test institute was opened at the University of Zurich to enable the measurement of Toothfriendly products in human volunteers.

In 1982, also the Swiss Toothfriendly Association (Aktion Zahnfreundlich Schweiz) was established in Basel. Today, the association counts over 500 members. A survey conducted in 2010 shows that over 90% of the Swiss population recognize the Toothfriendly label. Thanks to a prevention-minded oral health education system, most Swiss children learn about the benefits of the Toothfriendly label already in primary school.

1985 GERMANY

Germany was the second country to introduce the Toothfriendly label in 1985. Today, the German Toothfriendly Association (Aktion zahnfreundlich e.V.) counts over 700 members.

1989 INTERNATIONALToothfriendly products web

In 1989, a new association, Toothfriendly International, was established to license the Toothfriendly trademark to companies outside the Swiss and German borders. New action groups were established in Turkey, Belgium, UK, Spain and Argentina.

1993 ASIA

The Toothfriendly label made its big debut in Asia in the early 1990’s. New action groups were established in South Korea and Japan, and later also in China and Thailand.

1997 TURKEY

In 1997, a new Toothfriendly Association, Diş Dostu Dernegi, was established in Turkey. Today, the association publishes a tri-annual Dental Journal, hosts active Dis Dostu Dental Clubs at the Universities and counts over 10’000 followers in its social media platforms.

2001 SOCIAL PROJECTSToothfriendly Foundation web

The first Toothfriendly social project was initiated in Turkey in 2001. Disler Yolunda (“Every Tooth is Alright”) provides free dental care and education for underprivileged children. In 2007, a similar school- based caries prevention project was introduced in Romania.

2004 INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS

Since 2004, dental professionals have the possibility of becoming supporting members. Today, the national Toothfriendly associations count over 1000 individual members worldwide.

2005 TEAMING UP WITH ORAL CARE MANUFACTURERS

In 2005, the first tooth brush and toothpaste manufacturers became partners of Toothfriendly International. To make sure that our partners live up to their promises, an independent Advisory Board evaluates each case to ensure that manufacturer’s claims are backed up by reliable scientific evidence.

2006 AWARDING PREVENTION-MINDED SERVICES

In 2006, over 100 Swiss playgroups and nurseries following the guidelines of the association are accredited as “Toothfriendly”. Since 2010, the Turkish dental practises are being certified as “Toothfriendly Clinics” according to strict quality criteria.

2008 PACIFIERS & FLUORIDATED SALTnuggi website

In 2008, the first pacifier which does not provoke open bite – as demonstrated in a 27-month comparative study - was certified as Toothfriendly. The pacifier is sold under the trade name Dentistar.

In the same year, the Toothfriendly logo appears as endorsement on the first fluoridated salt product in Germany. Fluoride demonstrably strengthens dental enamel and reduces the harmful effects of plaque.

2010 TOOTHFRIENDLY BABY TEAS

In 2010, the first successful Toothfriendly beverage concept was introduced by the German baby nutrition specialist Hipp. Hipp's baby teas are sweetened with isomaltulose, a non-laxative carbohydrate which is guaranteed Toothfriendly. Hipp logo small

2012 TOOTHFRIENDLY CANDY SHOP

The world's first Toothfriendly candy store was opened in 2012 in Germany by Tobias Elger, a dentist's spouse with passion for healthy ingredients. Elger's visionery perspective on sugar-free sweets was key when he established Zahnfreundchen

2015 GUIDELINES FOR TOOTHPASTE

In 2015, Toothfriendly International issued new guidelines for the certification of children's toothpaste. Companies wishing to display the Toothfriendly logo on their product label must comply with the general provisions including fluoride content and conditions of use.
